As part of cultural and academic activities, the students of the National Higher School of Journalism and Information Sciences—M’hamed Yazid visited the 28th edition of the Algiers International Book Fair (SILA), held at the Pins Maritimes Exhibition Center under the slogan: “The Book as a Meeting Point of Cultures.” The Islamic Republic of Mauritania was the guest of honor of this edition.

The fair features broad participation from national and international publishing houses representing more than 50 countries, and includes thousands of titles across various intellectual, scientific, and literary fields, in addition to organizing intellectual seminars and book signing sessions with authors from Algeria and abroad.

This visit provided students with an opportunity to discover the latest publications and engage with cultural and media stakeholders, thereby reinforcing a culture of reading and knowledge.

This initiative reflects the school’s commitment to encouraging cultural openness and fostering a spirit of research among students, contributing to the enhancement of their academic and professional training in the fields of media and communication.

The National Higher School of Journalism and Information Sciences—M’hamed Yazid—hosted a valuable intellectual seminar delivered by Professor Ahmed Azimi, which addressed the trajectory of national media from the era of the liberation revolution to the digital revolution, as well as the profound transformations it is undergoing in light of modern technologies.

The seminar was marked by rich discussion and strong engagement from both students and professors, reflecting the academic community’s interest in issues related to national media and its role in shaping collective awareness.

The school administration extends its sincere thanks to all those who contributed to the success of this seminar, including professors, students, administrative staff, and all distinguished attendees who enriched the event with their ideas and interventions.

A special thanks is also extended to Professor Ahsan Jaballah for his distinguished presence and valuable contribution to the discussion, as well as to everyone who joined this exceptional intellectual gathering.

As part of the school’s openness to national cultural and artistic spaces, we are pleased to announce the creation of a cinema club at the National Higher School of Journalism and Information Sciences—M’hamed Yazid, which will be hosted by the Algiers Cinematheque.

This project is the result of several successful previous experiences undertaken by professors and students in the field of film criticism and analysis. It aims to promote film culture within the academic environment and encourage students to read images and understand contemporary visual and media language.

Through this club, students will have the opportunity to participate in film screenings, training workshops, and meetings with directors and film critics, thereby helping to strengthen aesthetic and intellectual awareness in engaging with images and the art of cinema.

This is a new step that reinforces the school’s presence in the national cultural and creative landscape.

As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the National Higher School of Journalism and Information Sciences—M’hamed Yazid—organized a rich workshop presented by Dr. Amina Chamami on:

“Protecting Innovation and Intellectual Property as a Lever for National Development.”

She addressed the importance of safeguarding creative ideas and their role in supporting the national economy and strengthening the spirit of initiative.

The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn about the legal and regulatory aspects of intellectual property and how innovation can be transformed into a real driver of development.
