English at the Heart of Digital Transformation: A Distinguished Academic Day Bridging Knowledge and Innovation

On the occasion of World English Language Day, observed on April 23, the National Higher School of Journalism and Information Sciences—Imhamed Yaziz—organized a distinguished academic day and scientific lecture entitled:

“English in the Age of AI”

This scientific event, organized by the Intensive Language Teaching Center under the supervision of the Directorate of Communication and External Relations, provided a rich space for discussion on the profound transformations affecting the use of the English language amid the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence technologies.

The event featured a group of distinguished professors and experts:

  • Prof. Driss Cherif
  • Dr. Jouad Maimouna
  • Dr. Narimane Hamdini
  • Prof. Dr. Amalo Naima, Director of the Intensive Language Center at the University of Algiers 1

They delivered valuable presentations and engaging discussions focusing on:

  • The role of artificial intelligence in reshaping English communication skills
  • Its impact on education and media production
  • The challenges and opportunities brought by this transformation in both academic and professional contexts

This academic day highlighted the importance of English as a strategic tool for global openness and a key pillar for keeping pace with digital and knowledge-based transformations across various fields.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Language Center, the school studio, and all contributors who helped make this scientific event a success.

The event was also marked by excellent organization by the school’s clubs and special participation from the Targuman Club of the University of Algiers 2.

It featured a rich diversity of activities that combined learning and enjoyment, where students delivered interactive segments and innovative initiatives reflecting the importance of English in their academic and professional lives.

Several school clubs actively participated, including the El Meshkaha Club and the Replay Cinema and Theatre Club, alongside the Targuman Club, embodying a spirit of cooperation and creativity within the university environment.

The school library also contributed by organizing a distinguished English-language book fair, offering students the opportunity to discover new titles and explore diverse cultures and knowledge.
