In this context, English Language Day was organized as an example that highlights this role, reflecting students’ growing awareness of its importance in their academic journey. English is regarded as a language that facilitates communication, supports scientific research, and enhances networking and leadership skills development.

Environment and Sustainable Development – “The Pulse of the Environment, the Voice of Students”
The National Higher School of Journalism and Information Sciences “M’hamed Yazid” organizes awareness-raising events and activities related to the environment and sustainable development, aiming to instill a culture of environmental protection and encourage students to adopt eco-friendly behaviors both within and outside the university setting. Through these initiatives, the school also seeks to strengthen students’ awareness of the importance of environmental preservation and highlight the role of media in promoting environmental values and raising awareness about the need to protect natural resources.
Sports activities constitute a fundamental pillar of student life, as they contribute to creating a real balance between academic training and physical practice. They go beyond improving fitness, also fostering teamwork, reinforcing discipline, and strengthening the ability to perform under pressure—skills that are essential in the field of media.

In line with the commitment of the National Higher School of Journalism and Information Sciences “M’hamed Yazid” to integrating its students into the national development process, the school’s students actively participate in the design and implementation of media and awareness campaigns accompanying various government initiatives in Algeria.
These efforts aim to build bridges of communication between official institutions and citizens, while highlighting students’ applied skills in public communication management.
The video on the left showcases an initiative prepared by our students for the Ministry of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, reflecting their creativity in covering and preserving national history, memory, and identity through an innovative perspective.
The second edition of the “National Campaign for Collecting and Recycling Notebooks” was launched to promote environmental awareness and transform paper waste into economic products, with active participation from one of our school’s students who designed a promotional video supporting the initiative.
This campaign reflects broad cooperation between the environmental, youth, and civil society sectors, aiming to reinforce civic values within Algerian educational institutions.
The club aims to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application in various fields such as journalism, media, languages, and the environment. This is achieved through activities and hands-on workshops that enable students to apply their academic knowledge in real-life contexts and strengthen their professional and communication skills.
The scientific and cultural clubs organize academic meetings and intellectual seminars, in addition to specialized training workshops in the field of journalism and information sciences. These activities aim to develop students’ skills, enhance their academic and practical knowledge, and encourage creativity, initiative, and teamwork.
Students can join clubs or participate in various cultural and sports activities by contacting the Cultural and Sports Activities Office, either to create a new club or to take part in the activities and events organized by the school throughout the academic year.
Field and cultural trips represent a rich experience for students of Journalism and Media Sciences, as they provide an opportunity to move from classrooms to the field and discover the world of media up close. Through visits to media and cultural institutions and participation in field coverage, students are able to apply their academic knowledge and gain practical experience that enhances their journalistic and media skills. These trips also open new perspectives for communication, teamwork, and the development of initiative and creativity.
